Jimmertime, Pt 2.

You know you have had a good night when one of the NBA's leading scorers, Kevin Durant, tweets, "Jimmer Fredette is the best scorer in the world!!"

Not bad feedback from a perennial All-Star, who can score a boat load of points in a hurry himself.

With the biggest game in recent memory taking place at the Marriott Center, Jimmer Fredette played his best game of the season in leading his No. 9 ranked Cougars to a 71-58 victory over the No. 4 ranked San Diego State Aztecs. San Diego State came into the game with the 11th ranked scoring defense at 58.9 points per game and Jimmer almost met that mark himself.

If there are any doubters left in America about Jimmer's National Player of the Year status, I would like to meet them. Jimmer has dropped 40 points in three of the last four games, including 43 tonight against a stingy Aztec defense.

Jimmer Mania is so hot right now, ESPN practically gushed over him for nearly 10 minutes on this evening's SportsCenter. Maybe they are like me and they just like to say Jimmer over and over. It's just a fun word to say and as fun as it is to say, Jimmer is even more fun to watch.

Tonight's performance showed just how enjoyable it is to watch Jimmer slice up a defense like he is working the meat counter in a deli. He was precise with his cuts to the basket for layups. He created space when he needed to hit a jumper. He hit a fade away three among his five three-point makes.

The only thing he didn't do was hit a left-handed three while standing at the scorer's table. Jimmer is truly a guy you wouldn't want to play a game of H-O-R-S-E with. It would be the quickest five shots and done you would ever see.

Let's hope for the sake of college basketball fans everywhere that Jimmer will continue to entertain and amaze deep into the NCAA tournament.
